The Heyi Bridge crosses a river which serves as the boundary between the new and old streets of Qinglinkou Town in Jiangyou County. Some also calls it the bridge of the Red Army because there is a gallant story about it.

In April, 1935, a group of Chinese Red Army troops established a Soviet regime in Qinglinkou Town. When they were moving their base in the next month, they left a female soldier in the town to let her recover from her bad injury. But soon a gang of armed local landlords and tyrants supported by Kuomintang found her and forced her to betray the Communist Party. Brave and unyielding, the soldier sacrificed herself at the south pillar of the Heyi Bridge. In memory of such a great martyr, the bridge was also called the bridge of the Red Army.
