Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuaries

Still remember Bing Dwen Dwen(the official mascot of 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games) and Po Ping (the main protagonist of Kung Fu Panda)? Whenever talking about China, panda might be the very first few things people would come across in their mind. Just like kangaroo in Australia, panda is the iconic animal of China. But unlike kangaroo, the number of wild pandas is very limited. According to the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, fewer than 1,900 pandas are thought to remain in the wild.

 Luckily, with the increase of people’s awareness of environmental protection, and the development of science and economy, pandas and their habitats are now given  sufficient attention and protection. Listed as world natural heritage in 2006, Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuaries contain more than 30% of the world’s panda population and have therefore attracted numerous visitors both at home and abroad.

 There are seven nature reserves and nine scenic parks in the site, including a vast range of habitats over an altitudinal range of 5,670m, with glacier-capped peaks, alpine meadows and a variety of mixed conifer and deciduous forests. If you are a panda lover or a furry animal lover, come and visit! By the way, red panda could also be seen in the sanctuaries.
