Golden Melody Awards & Festival

Founded in 1990, the Golden Melody Awards is Taiwan's largest and most prestigious music award ceremony. It is widely recognized as one of the most influential music awards in the Chinese-speaking world and is often compared to the Grammy Awards in the West. The GMA is presented by the Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development, Ministry of Culture, Republic of China (Taiwan).
The awards are divided into two main streams: Popular Music Category and Traditional Music Category, with separate ceremonies for each. The annual award ceremony is typically held in May or June each year.
The GMA is a competitive reward offered by Taiwan to promote the Chinese music industry and recognize outstanding Chinese-language singers and exceptional music professionals. It has honored numerous talented Chinese-language singers and music workers, becoming the most esteemed honor in the Chinese music scene. The GMA has significantly contributed to and encouraged the development of Chinese music.
The Golden Melody Awards, along with the Golden Bell Awards for Television and the Golden Horse Awards for Film, are collectively known as Taiwan's three major annual awards.
The 1st Golden Melody Awards was held on January 6, 1990, to honor the popular music production by performers.
The 2024 Golden Melody Awards (GMA) ceremony was grandly held at Taipei Arena at 7 p.m. on June 29th.
