Cultural Relics: Ceramic Figurine of a Weeping Woman

In ancient Chinese poems, there are a lot of literature figures who mourn autumn and sentimentalize spring. Today’s cultural relic is a proof of that.

The female figurine bends down and holds her knees as she weeps, presumably to mourn the occupant of the tomb.

The whitewash originally applied to her body has mostly peeled off. The figurine expresses strong emotion without compromising the aesthetic value of an ancient art form.
