Confucius' view on distributing social wealth

While we've talked a lot about Confucius' views on economics, there's one very famous assertion that still hasn't been mentioned, and that's this quote from Confucius: Inequality rather than want is the cause of trouble.


In distributing social wealth, Confucius stood for equity, i.e., consideration of both the interests of the aristocratic and the laboring classes. He believed that rulers should be more concerned about inequality in wealth distribution than the insufficiency of wealth.
