Anshun Covered Bridge
This quaint covered bridge is called Anshun Covered Bridge. There is also a story about a delightful first encounter between the bridge and Marco Polo.
According to the author Lu Xiaomin, Marco Polo was sent from Beijing to Chengdu by Kublai Khan in 1287. When he opened his window in the morning after his arrival, he saw this grand bridge which greatly impressed him. The maroon tiled roof of the corridor was magnificent in the glow of the sun. The bridge was bustling with people and numerous boats were shuttling back and forth below. He remarked that the bridge resembled a dragon outstretched over the 800-meter wide Jinjiang River, a site he thought "unimaginable to people throughout the world".
