Nanmen Bridge
Situated at the Zhuyan Dyke, Nanchuan District, built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), this small bridge is Nanmen Bridge, which is situated at the Zhuyan Dyke, Nanchuan District, and built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
At the very beginning, this bridge was just a simple wooden one without any special design. It was not until the early Qing Dynasty that it was rebuilt into a small but exquisite covered bridge like the one in the photo.
However, from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China (1912-1949), Nanmen Bridge was long neglected and badly damaged. After 1949, the bridge was reconstructed into a stone arch bridge for the convenience of the people living nearby. In 2012, relevant cultural relic preservation department took over the repairment and the covered bridge was renovated to its original appearance according to historical materials.
