Columbia Circle in Shanghai

Fantastic China  | 2022-11-16 | Views:184

Located on Yan’an West Road, Columbia Circle is one of the most popular landmarks in Shanghai. Originally these buildings were designed for the Columbian Country Club and functioned as a holiday resort for foreign residents in old Shanghai. Later, this site was converted into the office building of the Shanghai Institute of Biological Products.

Over the past seven decades, the place was not open to the public until it recently reopened as Columbia Circle, a venue integrating historical buildings, cultural sites, cafés and restaurants, as well as a British-style swimming pool which is rare throughout the city. The white marble arches are reflected on the crystal-clear water surface of the swimming pool featuring classical mosaic tiles, creating a vista suitable for photographing.
