Introduction to Four Season Opera Theatre

I. Introduction to the theatre

Maanshan Four Seasons Opera Theater, from the "City of Poetry" Maanshan, is one of the "Top Ten Famous Troupes" and "Top One Hundred Troupes" in the private sector of Anhui Province. Its director is the national first-level actor Jiang Qing, and the artistic director is the famous Huangmei artist Wu Qiong. 

Since its establishment in 2010, Four Seasons Opera Theater has developed a perfect combination of professionalism and marketability. Over the years, the theatre has been upholding its cultural position and promoting local opera. The theatre has created and launched a large number of original cultural works such as large-scale Huangmei opera represented by "Drunkenness of Taibai", "Guxi Ballad" and "Thousand Characters", drama represented by "Anti-Japanese Hero Wang Erxiao" and children's drama represented by "Rainbow Forest". Director Jiang Qing and Vice Director Sun Xuelian have been awarded "Top Ten Famous Actors" and "Top Ten Directors" of private art troupes in Anhui Province.

II. Awards and Honours

* The original Huangmei Opera "Thousand Characters" won the 13th Spiritual Civilisation Construction in Anhui Province, and the "Top Ten Famous Dramas" of the private theatres in Anhui Province;

* The large-scale original Huangmei Opera " Drunkenness of Taibai" won the 2016 National Art Fund large-scale stage drama funding project, the "Top Ten Famous Dramas" of private troupes in Anhui Province in 2017, and the 2019 National Art Fund Communication and Exchange Promotion Project;

* The original theatre short play "Gold Medal Babysitter" won the 2018 National Art Fund Small Scale Drama Funding Project. 

* The theatre resumed the staging of the classic traditional Huangmei opera "Luo Pa Ji", which was successfully selected for the "2021 Chinese Opera Video and Audio" project;

*The Theme Tour of "Keeping Positive and Innovating Huangmei Opera" (Luo Pa Ji and Guxi Ballad) was awarded the 2022 National Art Fund's Communication and Promotion Funding Project;

* The communist classic Huangmei opera "Sister Jiang" was selected for the "2023-2024 Chinese Opera Video and Audio Project";

* The original modern Huangmei Opera "Guxi Ballad " won the "the Best Works Award" of the 16th Spiritual Civilisation Construction in Anhui Province, and the "Top Ten Famous Dramas" of the private troupes in Anhui Province;

* In 2023, the original Huangmei opera children's play "Rainbow Forest" was selected for the Ninth National Outstanding Children's Theatre Exhibition.
