1st Olympic Qualifier Series - Shanghai ends; 464 top athletes vie for places at Paris 2024

The four-day “Olympic Qualifier Series (OQS) - Shanghai” ended on Sunday. It gathered a total of 464 top global athletes, including seven Tokyo 2020 Olympic champions, who vied for more than 150 quota places at the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympic Games. The athletes competed in BMX (bicycle motocross) freestyle, breaking, skateboarding, and sport climbing. This was the first-ever OQS event being held to serve as a final qualification stage for these four sports for the Games. The OQS employs a points system designed to determine which athletes will secure quotas. Athletes in the four sports get the OQS points by competing at the Shanghai stop this week, and later at a Budapest stop in June. (Photo: Chen Xia/GT)
