Established in 1965, the Golden Bell Awards are a prestigious annual event in Taiwan that celebrates excellence in the television industry. The Golden Bell Awards, held in October or November each year, is an annual television production award in Taiwan. It is also one of the three annual awards in Taiwan.

The Golden Bell Awards mainly has two ceremonies: the Golden Bell Awards for Television (Taiwan: Golden Bell Awards for Television) and the Golden Bell Awards for Radio (Taiwan: Golden Bell Awards for Radio).

The naming of Taiwan's Golden Bell Awards for Television stems from the ancient Chinese text, "The chime bells are the ritual instruments for education in ancient China. When the ancients composed music, the chime bells were the first among them. Usually, there were sixteen chime bells, and they were accompanied by stone chimes to harmonize their melodies, thus fulfilling rituals and achieving education." It signifies the hope to educate the public through the sonorous sounds, broaden horizons, and uplift spirits, and also metaphorically represents the profound influence of the radio and television industry, as well as the heavy responsibilities shouldered by practitioners.

The Golden Bell Awards for Television recognize outstanding achievements in various categories, including acting, directing, screenwriting, and production design, among others. They serve as a benchmark for the highest standards of creativity, professionalism, and artistic merit in Taiwanese television programming.

The Golden Bell Awards are a highly anticipated event in the local entertainment scene, attracting the attention of industry professionals, celebrities, and television enthusiasts alike. The nominees and winners are carefully selected by a panel of judges, who evaluate submissions based on their technical skill, narrative strength, and cultural significance.

Over the years, the Golden Bell Awards have honored numerous iconic figures and groundbreaking works that have contributed significantly to the development of Taiwanese television. These accolades have not only validated the hard work and dedication of the industry's talent but also inspired the creation of more innovative and impactful programming.

The 59th Golden Bell Awards will be held at the Taipei Pop Music Center on October 18 and 19, 2024. Among the nominees for the 59th Golden Bell Awards, which were announced on September 11, the TV series "This Moment in Time" stood out as a highlight, with its lead actors Jia Jingwen and Guo Xuefu both nominated for Best Actress.
