Founded in 2011, the Beijing International Film Festival is a large-scale international film event. It is organized by China Film Administration, China Media Group, and Beijing Government.

 

With the theme of "Sharing Resources, Winning the Future," the festival aims to gather the world's outstanding film achievements, enhance international film exchanges and cooperation, promote cross-regional and cross-cultural film communication, realize cross-cultural cooperation between filmmakers and film capital, expand the international communication space of domestic films, and promote Chinese films to "go global." It is a key cultural event for Beijing to build a world-class city and create an eastern film and television capital.

 

The Beijing International Film Festival is held in mid-April every year, lasting for about eight days. During this period, film competitions, film screenings, market exhibitions, and other activities are carried out simultaneously. The festival is divided into various sections, including the "Tiantan Award" competition, "Focus Future," "Beijing Screenings," "Beijing Market," "Beijing Planning & Theme Forum," "Film Master Class," "University Student Film Festival," "Short Video," and so on.

 

The Tiantan Award is the top award of the festival, with the core value concept of "Harmony between Man and Nature, Beauty in Common." It aims to discover the latest outstanding works worldwide and encourage film diversity.

 

The festival's Red Carpet ceremony is a glamorous and highly anticipated event that brings together celebrities, filmmakers, and industry professionals from around the world. It serves as a celebration of the film industry and offers a unique opportunity for attendees to rub shoulders with the stars of the silver screen.

 

The 14th Beijing International Film Festival held from April 18 to 26, 2024. The festival themed "Enlightened by Films, United as One," organized over 100 events, including the main competition unit for the "Tiantan Awards," the "Spotlight on the Future" unit awards, Beijing Screenings, Beijing Market, Film Carnival, University Student Film Festival, and the Closing Ceremony and Awards Ceremony. The main competition unit set up 10 awards with 15 films shortlisted; the "Spotlight on the Future" unit set up 7 awards with 15 films shortlisted.
