Macau International Movie Festival

The Macau International Movie Festival, founded by the Macau Film and Television Media Association and the China International Culture Communication Center in 2009, is an international film festival held in Macau, China, on December 26 every year. The first "Macau International Movie Festival" and the International Film, Television, and Animation Product Exhibition was held in Macau, China, on December 26, 2009.

The Macau International Movie Festival leverage the unique blend of Eastern and Western cultures in Macau to showcase outstanding films from around the world.

The festival features a diverse range of films, including feature films, short films, documentaries, and animations, from both established and emerging filmmakers. It also recognizes and rewards excellence in filmmaking through its various awards categories, which honor outstanding achievements in various aspects of filmmaking such as directing, acting, screenwriting, cinematography, and more.

In addition to film screenings, the Macau International Movie Festival also hosts a series of workshops, seminars, and masterclasses led by renowned filmmakers and industry experts. These events provide a valuable learning experience for aspiring filmmakers and film enthusiasts, offering insights into the craft of filmmaking and the latest trends and developments in the industry.

The Golden Lotus Award is one of the major awards at the Macau International Movie Festival. Jointly organized by the Macau Film and Television Media Association, the China International Culture Communication Center, and the China Television Artists Association, the award aims to encourage the diversified development of the film, television, and animation industries, nurture new talents in these fields, and build a platform for connecting capital with film and television projects. Since its establishment in 2009, the Golden Lotus Award has been held annually in late December in Macau, China.

The Golden Lotus Award encompasses various categories, including but not limited to Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Cinematography, Best New Performer, and Contribution to Chinese Cinema Award. These awards are designed to comprehensively evaluate and recognize outstanding contributions and achievements in the realm of cinematic art.

The 15th Macau International Movie Festival was successfully held in December 2023 at the Broadway Theatre in Macau, China.
