Guanyin Bridge
Guanyin Bridge, located in Guanyinqiao Town, Santai County, Sichuan Province, was built during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty.
Although now surrounded by the city, the bridge still serves as a vital passageway for locals. According to the Santai County Annals, Guanyin Bridge is 75 li (about 37.5 kilometers) from the city center. Built during the Qianlong reign, the area flourished as a market during the Guangxu reign, connecting major provincial roads.
Guanyin Bridge, hidden in city's heart, yet a silent guardian, leading souls to their destinations.
Tucked away in the heart of the city, Guanyin Bridge quietly endures, guiding people on their journeys.
A local legend tells of Guanyin Bodhisattva transforming into a basket-carrying girl, teaching people to recite Buddhist scriptures. In honor of her virtues, the town was named Guanyinqiao, and the stone-arched covered bridge that links the streets and alleys was named Guanyin Bridge.
Over time, Guanyinqiao Town grew into a thriving hub, with the bridge becoming a key route to Chengdu in the west and Wanzhou in the east.
