Gufeng Bridge
The Gufeng Bridge, or the Old Sweetgum Bridge, is a small covered bridge situated in Qianjiang District, Chongqing.
Situated in Xiaonanhai Town, Qianjiang District, built during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912).
Chinese people have a fondness for ancient trees, considering them to be like hale and hearty old men, as well as symbols of wisdom and longevity. This covered bridge is named after sweetgum tree, since the town where it is located is famous for its hundreds of old sweetgum trees. These strong and lofty trees are more than 400 years old, all treasured and well-preserved by the local villagers. Among these lush old trees quietly stands a small wooden bridge, with a perfectly symmetric view in your eyes when you stand on the bridge.
