Tiansheng Bridge
The Tiansheng Bridge, situated in Wulong Village, Xikou Township, Xiushan County, built during the Qingdaoguang Dynasty (1903).
Have you ever read about the “unworldly peach blossom garden” in Tao Yuanming’s poetry? Well, it is said that this bridge can lead you to such a place! Situated in Chongqing, the Tiansheng Bridge is a five-span timber beam bridge with a double-eave roof and stone piers.
If you observe closely and carefully, you can find the name of the bridge is engraved in a traditional style in the stone archways at both ends. The bridge is built over the Xikou River with Wulong Mountain rising behind it. With an astounding natural beauty as its background, the bridge, though looks simple and antique, fits perfectly into its surroundings. Thus, there are sayings among the folks about the Tiansheng Bridge that it can take people into the fairyland depicted in Tao Yuanming’s poetry where you can find a peaceful village with a beautiful scenery and villagers who are hospitable and kind.
