Shanghai Concert Hall is located on the intersection of Yan'an Road and South Tibet Road of Huangpu District, Shanghai. It was founded in 1930 as Nanking Theatre. In 1949, its name was changed to Beijing Cinema. In 1959, it was renamed Shanghai Concert Hall. The hall can accommodate 1,122 seats, 640 on the ground floor and 482 on the second floor. The stage is 8.35 metres by 16 metres, covering around 100 sq. metres.

Shanghai music lovers may have endured some anxiety when the Shanghai Concert Hall closed for renovation in 2019. It was the first time for the building to undergo large-scale renovation. In 2002, the building was renovated and then reopened with a new look. The European-style building, constructed in 1930, was formerly the Nanjing Theater. It is particularly noted for its elegant and solemn auditorium. The wide domed ceiling not only demonstrates artistic elegance, but also creates a superb audio environment. With first-class acoustic equipment, it consistently provides an audio feast. Enjoying a live quartet performance in the concert hall is highly recommended if the chance presents.
