Earlier this year, Beijing-based artist Zou Cao learned of a charity project, supported by several organizations nationwide, which provided in the past year daily supplies and volunteer services to the rural elders. Deeply touched, he visited some of them to learn of their lives, and he asked them to co-create a series of finger paintings.
He turned those finger paintings, all depicting the Temple of Heaven, into prints of different color shades, and launched the series recently in Beijing. And he donated an edition of them to the Temple of Heaven, the former royal complex of centuries old in Beijing.
Zou says he wishes these old people to feel that, they are not only the subjects of charity but also, they can pay back by participating in a project of social benefits.
