Kan Jian

Kan Jian, or the over-sized long vest, is one of the most commonly-used accessories. It is worn over the main gown. There are many kinds of Kan Jian: Ones embroidered with dragon designs are worn by kings or queens; plain ones are worn by common people, especially older people; one with floral decorations and matching trousers are worn by young maids; those with decorated collars are worn by older women; simple, unadorned ones are worn by Taoist nuns.
